Blue-crowned Pigeons are one of the largest species of pigeons in the world. Like other pigeons, they produce "crop milk" for their young, which is gradually supplemented with regurgitated food. Additionally, they have the ability to generate suction and drink water without lifting their heads.
They forage in groups of two to ten adults, searching for fruits, seeds, grains, and small invertebrates. However, their population is declining due to hunting and habitat loss, leading to their classification as "Vulnerable".
Blue-crowned Pigeons are monogamous. Males produce a booming call to attract females. The males provide nesting material to the females, who arrange it into a flimsy nest before laying a single egg. The female incubates the egg at night, while the male takes over during the day. The hatching process typically takes around 28 days.
